Dreams From My Father- Anticipatory Entry

            My impression of Dreams From My Father from looking at the front cover of the book is that its going to be one of books that explains how a normal person, who once was nothing but somehow managed to be someone by working hard and never giving up. I expect the book to give readers a better understanding of how political figures act and deal with situations. A factor that made me hesitate on whether or not I should read this book was the fact that the protagonist in this book is different from your average relatable main character. What makes reading so enjoyable to readers around the globe is the personality of the main character or how relatable the characters in a book are to people the reader know or the readers himself.

            Another reason why I pondered on whether or not I should read this book is because of the fact that Barack Obama is now the President of the United States and used to be the Senator of Illinois. It might be interesting to discover how he achieved success but I wasn’t really looking to read a book about politics and the government. Readers today like to read about success and how the impossible is achieved and this book can give them a taste of that. Another popular subject nowadays is to discover other’s flaws. This book can give readers a gist of Obama’s flaws and weaknesses up until the time period where he was elected to be the Senator of Illinois.
